Bill's Story

Bill Scobie has been active in Christian ministry since 1971 when he came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at Portobello Baptist Church in Edinburgh. Bill and his family joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) as a student in 1973. Thereafter becoming a team leader then Assistant Director and in 1976 he was appointed National Director for Scotland. the main base and training school was situated at Balcary House in Hawick.

In September 1981, Bill was ordained as a Minister and Pastor of a new pioneering church situation. in Hawick. In 1984, the Lord led Bill to relocate the main Scottish YWAM Base to the town of Dumbarton on the west coast.  Shortly after, having been in YWAM for 11 years Bill resigned as National Director, handing over the reigns to Stephe and Rite Mayers who had been leaders along with Bill for some time.Bill and his family returned to Hawick to be involved in the Leadership mininstry of the Abundant Life Church.

Bill was then involved in pastoral and pioneering ministry in Edinburgh from 1986 till he returned to Hawick in mid 90's to continue in pastoral leadership of the two churches, this meant travelling every Sunday morning for a Service in Edinburgh and also every Thursday for  Pastoral visiting and a Home Group meeting until 1998.

Since then and till now Bill has been Pastoring the church in Hawick.
